The irony

So I kept thinking to myself that it is so ironic that we have so much to blog about in the summer, but so little time to blog. Now I am realizing that I just have very little time to blog- always. Life just keeps clipping along at a remarkable pace. We are back in school- Davis in 2nd and Cam in K. Soccer is up and going and the boys are loving it. Elle is forever on the move and starting to string a few words together here and there. She cracks me up. A few end of summer pictures- taken up the canyon at one of our last hurrahs.

p.s. these were taken with our newest addition to the family- a Canon Rebel Xsi. I am thrilled- and taking a photography class to learn how to actually use all the greatness that comes with it.

One small splash for some... one giant cannonball for us

We had some swimming lesson trauma two years ago when I signed the boys up for "survival swimming". It works for many kids, but not for mine. They came away with a fear of swimming lessons (even though they could swim pretty well). Even talking about swimming lessons was off limits for some time. We had to get past the tears when we mentioned signing up for swimming lessons again, but it turned out better this time. They were in a group and played games- no pressure. It was perfect. I think we accomplished our goal- to overcome our fear. Bonus- they learned some new swimming skills. Hopefully my next parenting mistake will be as forgivable.

I could get used to this

We just found a pool to hang out in this summer. I have never really loved taking my kids to the pool because it has been too crowded or too far from our house or my kids needed me to swim around with them to have any fun. Now we have found one that fits (a majority of the pool is 4ft. deep or less) and now I understand how I might want to be at the pool everyday. I keep trying to think of ways to fit it into our day. So far we have been twice, but it has only been 1 week- so the rest of the summer is looking promising.

Cam loves it too- he might actually overcome his fear of swimming. I'm not holding my breath for it to happen this summer though, but we'll try.

Elle's favorite activity was, of course eating snacks poolside (my girl). She loved the water too- especially spraying people (she would laugh when she got me) with the fountain in the kiddie pool.

Davis jumped off the diving board! This is him- mid-360. He even jumped off the high dive- once. Too bad I missed the photo-op. I didn't have my camera there that day.
